The Coastal Photo Club was conceived in 1991 and has grown and flourished since then. The club, based in New Bern, covers much of eastern North Carolina drawing members from as far as Greenville, Morehead City and Swansboro. Over the years we have grown to 130+ members with skill levels ranging from novice to professional, and skill sets running the gamut. These include photo shooting, image editing, and digital manipulation. In addition to regular monthly meetings and competitions we also conduct training and mentoring sessions, take field trips to interesting shooting locations, and give back to the community through photography-related service projects. We are a learning and teaching group, our purpose is to promote the hobby and art form of picture taking and we welcome interested parties of any and all skill levels.

SPRING MAJOR PRINT COMPETITION This year, due to the continuing COVID group gathering restrictions, the usual Spring Major Print Competition will be change to a digital photo critique with outside judges doing the critique. Chris Richmond and Aurora DeLuca have agreed to provide the photo critiques. There will be no scoring, just the critiques with the intent to help members prepare for the Fall Major Print Competition which we hope by then will be in-person. A maximum of 100 images will be presented for critique. Therefore please name your images as you have been naming for the mini-comps, and Just For Fun competitions with sequential numbers indicating which photos you would like to have eliminated should the total number of images submitted exceed 100. A email with all the details will be sent separately several times before the judging begins on April 10. So start getting your photos ready!
